Puzzles is a small, independent café and craft beer bar in Lincoln. We care about your privacy and keep our data handling to an absolute minimum. This page explains what little information we collect, how cookies work on this website, and your rights.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Puzzles (trading name / registered business name to confirm), the café at 9 West Parade, Lincoln, LN1 1NL. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” for any personal information described here.

2. What information we collect
This is a simple informational website. It has no accounts, no login, no online ordering and no contact forms, so we do not collect personal information from you directly through the site.
We may receive personal information only when you choose to contact us, for example:
- If you call us, we’ll know your phone number and whatever you tell us (e.g. a booking enquiry).
- If you email or message us on social media, we’ll have your name, contact details and the content of your message.
We only use that information to reply to you and to provide what you’ve asked for.
3. Cookies & third-party content
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies of our own. The only non-essential cookies on this site come from third-party content we embed, and these load only after you accept via our cookie banner (or click to load that specific item):
| Source | Why it’s here | More info |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram (Meta) | To show our latest Instagram post. | Instagram privacy policy |
| Google Maps (Google) | To show a map of where to find us. | Google privacy policy |
| Google Fonts | To display the site’s typefaces. | Google privacy policy |
When you load this content, those companies may set their own cookies and receive your IP address, in line with their own privacy policies — we have no control over that. We also use a single technical item in your browser’s local storage to remember your cookie choice so we don’t ask you every visit.
You can change your choice any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings — see aboutcookies.org.
4. Our lawful basis
Where we process personal information, our lawful bases under the UK GDPR are:
- Consent — for loading third-party content (Instagram, Google Maps) that may set cookies.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries you send us and to run our café.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone except where necessary to provide a service you’ve asked for, or where we’re required to by law. The third-party content above is provided directly by Meta and Google to your browser.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry messages and contact details only for as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
